When submissions close, this year’s contest juror – award-winning author Jenny Heijun Wills – will read and assess all works sent in for consideration to determine the winner.
The contest, with submissions closing this Sunday February 7th, will award the first place winner a $500 cash prize, as well as prizes of $150 to two honourable mentions from the submission pool.
On top of the monetary prize and recognition, the winning authors will also be invited to read their work at gritLIT’s 2021 online festival at a special event.
Hamilton’s enduring gritLIT Festival has been a local staple since 2004, celebrating the best in the literary arts here in the city and across the country by offering intimate talks with acclaimed authors, special workshops, and other events that foster the creation of outstanding local literature.
Got a short story to submit to this year’s contest? Don’t wait too long! Submissions close this weekend, so visit the gritLIT website for all submission guidelines.
