Tuesday’s brings tasty tacos and more to the Hamilton Mountain

Every day is Taco Tuesday at one of Hamilton’s newest spots for flavourful Mexican-inspired fare.

The aptly named Tuesday’s is one of a half-dozen food spots that are part of Townhall Social Eatery: an independent, family-friendly, ‘food court’ style eatery at 581 Concession Street.

Owned and operated by the team behind The Dirty South, Townhall’s spacious dining area features an array of food counters that favour fun recipes and local ingredients, including cozy pub fare at The Taproom, espresso and brunch at Incline Coffee Co, the meat lover’s paradise of The Salted Pig, charcuterie offerings at Bread & Wine, and sweet treats at The Parlour Dairy Bar.

But Tuesday’s is one of Townhall’s hidden gems, featuring a compact menu of tacos and Mexican-inspired eats with a mix of familiar recipes and fusion fare.

“With Tuesday’s, we didn’t want to be put in a ‘box’ when it comes to the menu; we aren’t traditional in any way, so we wanted to create a fusion and have our team do whatever they feel,” says Kara Liersch, who co-owns Townhall with husband Brett.

Under new kitchen management, the revamped taco lineup includes enticing options like beef barbacoa, chicken tinga, and pork pibil alongside creations like Korean BBQ and fried chicken. Burritos, bowls, quesadillas, nacho platters (including sushi nachos!), and thoughtful drinks like Tuesday’s Pilsner, Corona, and tequila cocktails round things off on a menu both varied and compact.

Like the other options at Townhall, locally-sourced ingredients are used whenever possible, including the soft-shell tortillas provided by Latin Food & Products.

Since Townhall operates using automated ordering systems rather than hard-copy menus, the food can change on a whim, meaning locals should regularly expect new options to sink their teeth into.

Of course, a ‘Taco Tuesday’ special is a no-brainer, and Tuesday’s offers an affordable two-can-dine special featuring any four tacos, any two Pepsi products to drink, and a side of house-made chips & salsa for $20.99.

Things didn’t go quite as planned for Townhall: initially intended to be a hub for multiple local food spots, pandemic struggles made the eatery pivot to offering its own bespoke range of spots like Tuesday’s.

“Some of the vendors that we had lined up understandably got cold feet and could no longer commit,” Liersch says. “So with the help of our incredible culinary team (like we are so lucky), we thought, let’s do this. It was the best decision.”

Tuesday’s is located at Townhall Social Eatery (581 Concession Street). See more on their website and social media.
