The Hamilton chapter of Extinction Rebellion took credit for the stunt saying it was in response to Ontario’s auditor general declaring the provincial government’s climate change plan was a “load of crap.”
At the time of the incident, a statement by the premier’s office said that Ford will not be responding to the group.
Toronto police were called to the scene to investigate. Since, Cameron Topp, 49, and Dennis Alvey, 55, were arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000.
Both men are scheduled to appear in court next week.
Topp said that they wanted to do something that will bring attention to the climate change crisis.
