Valentino’s celebrates their 40 year anniversary

This past weekend Valentino’s restaurant celebrated its 40-year anniversary.
First opening their doors in Westdale in 1978, the restaurant has become a staple in the Hamilton restaurant scene for their incredible Italian cuisine.
Last Saturday, Valentino’s welcomed Hamiltonians to visit either their Westdale or Stoney Creek locations to celebrate the 40-year milestone. The restaurants provided complimentary slab pizza and cake to their patrons as a thank you.
Valentino’s has seen growth and expansion over their years of operation. They initially began as a bakery and take-out eatery but within their first year of opening were able to transform into a fully operating restaurant.
Fast forward to 1985, they opened their second location on the Hamilton Mountain. Having a restaurant both downtown and on the mountain meant that great Italian fare was accessible on both ends of the city.
The Italian eatery also brought something to Hamilton that was previously not available in the city: panzarottis. These deep fried, savoury turnovers are a culinary delight. If you think Pizza Pops are great, you need to try a panzarotti.
In 2012, the Westdale location began brewing their own beer making it one of Hamilton’s earliest craft brewers. It’s easy to overlook as there’s so many breweries in Hamilton now, but the craft beer landscape was much different six years ago.
Their house draught beer ‘Val’s Bohemian Ale’ has a hoppy flavour infused with a hint of grapefruit. They also carry a small batch seasonal draught beer named ‘Strange Brew’ which changes every few months.
I want to extend a huge congratulations to Valentino’s restaurant for their endless contributions of deliciousness to Hamilton. It’s wonderful to see local, Hamilton businesses thriving for so many decades.
