VIDEO: Hamilton cyclist stops thief from stealing her bike

A would-be bicycle thief here in Hamilton messed with the wrong cyclist.

Security footage from outside of a Hasty Market in Hamilton has been released showing a not-so-graceful young thief attempting to quickly ride off with a bike owned by a customer currently inside the store.

Unfortunately for him, a couple of failed attempts to mount the bike gave its rightful owner plenty of time to rush out of the Hasty Market and stop the near-theft dead in its tracks.

As is seen in the video, the cyclist, who posted the video to Instagram herself under her handle @jesustine, quite literally pulls no punches as she shoves the terrified thief to the ground, shouting in his face and making it oh-so clear that he definitely picked the wrong bike to try to snatch.

“I’m extremely protective over my bike (it was free locked) bc I am a bike courier, it is my life,” explains @jesustine in an Instagram comment on the posted security footage.

According to @jesustine, the attempted thief, while rattled, was totally fine after the bold confrontation and even ran off laughing.

The takeaway from the incident is a clear one: don’t mess with Hamiltonians or their bikes!
