Weekend events in Hamilton July 14-15 2018

Looking for something to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events across the city for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in Hamilton this weekend.

Saturday

The Royal Quest

Looking for a way to let the kids burn off some energy this weekend? Take part in the Royal Botanical GardensRoyal Quest to help save Bloom Kingdom!

The Royal Quest in a fun, interactive role playing game that will test your strength, speed, and intelligence in both physical and mental challenges. You will follow along to the story of Bloom Kingdom, become a knight, and collect pieces of sunlight to save the realm.

The quest’s route is 3/4 of a kilometre and takes place on uneven terrain. The quest is fun for all ages, but some tasks are more physically demanding than others. Children under the age of 8 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Royal Quest is held at the Royal Botanical Gardens’ Arboretum between 11 am and 4 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door or in advance online.

Ancaster Rib Fest

Do you love barbecue and craft beer? If so, you can’t miss this year’s Ancaster Rib Fest. This yearly festival is bringing you the absolute best barbecue and craft beer in Canada for one weekend only.

Rib fest is great for all ages and appetites. For the adults, this festival will feature a craft beer market, as well as a wine and spirits area. For the kids, there will be life-size board games and a designated kids’ zone.

The entire family can come together to eat and enjoy the wide variety of food and beverage options.

Rib Fest takes place at Ancaster Fairgrounds and runs from 11 am to 11 pm. Admission is free but make sure to bring your wallet!

BECAUSE BEER Festival

Beer lovers rejoice! BECAUSE BEER festival is the perfect opportunity to sample the works of over 40 different craft beer and cider makers. There will be guest speakers, an awards ceremony, and the chance to interact with brewers.

Looking to eat, drink, and relax? This year’s festival will have a big selection of specialty food vendors, as well as a great music stage. What could be better than drinking a cold beer, eating great food, and listening to The Trews?

BECAUSE BEER Craft Beer Festival takes place at Pier 4 Park and runs from 2 pm to 12 am. Standard admission costs $29.99 and designated driver admission costs $10. All tickets are available for purchase online.

Hockey Night in Hamilton

Come support a great cause this weekend by attending Hockey Night in Hamilton. Zac Rinaldo, team member of the Nashville Predators, is hosting the event to raise funds for Food4Kids.

The event will include a celebrity hockey game (featuring current and ex-NHL players!), special guests, games, a silent auction and more.

Hockey Night in Hamilton takes place at Gateway Ice Centre and begins at 6 pm. Tickets are available online and start at $20.

90s Rager – Grunge Tribute

If you grew up loving grunge music, you can’t miss this event. The Absinthe is holding a grunge music night, paying tribute to the bands that started the 90s craze.

DJ PARTY JESUS will be spinning some grunge anthems, as well as some post-grunge tunes from the era. Take Cover will be performing some of your favourite grunge classics live.

The grunge tribute runs from 10 pm to 2 am with tickets available online. Appropriate time period attire is encouraged.

Sunday Punk Rock Matinee

Rebel Time Records is hosting this month’s punk rock matinee. If you grew up on punk music or want to check out new artists, this show is a great way to support your local scene.

Bands performing include The Class Assassins, Union Thugs, Barbed Wire Braces, Final Four, and Anvil Strike.

Hosted at This Ain’t Hollywood, the show runs from 3 to 7 pm. The matinee costs $6 at the door and is an all ages event.

SalsaSoul Sunday!

Are you ready to dance the night away at this month’s Latin dance social? Strut your stuff on down to The Spice Factory and enjoy this fun and friendly social.

SalsaSoul Sunday runs from 7 to 10:30 pm. Beginner dance lessons start at 7 pm and the dance social begins at 7:45 pm. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.
