Weekend events in Hamilton May 26-27 2018

Looking for something to do this weekend? Look no further. We’ve found a wide range of events across the city for all ages and interests to enjoy.

Here’s what’s happening in Hamilton this weekend.

Saturday

Christie Antique & Vintage Show

The Christie Antique & Vintage Show is a market you don’t want to miss. Hundreds of Canada’s top antique and vintage dealers come together at Christie Lake Conservation Area to display and sell an unparalled variety of treasures. Whether you’re an avid collector or just enjoy all things vintage, come discover an incredible array of unique goods.

The show runs from 8 am to 5 pm. Children 12 and under get in for free, while general admission tickets cost $10 and are available online.

Dundas Family Festival

Treat the kids to a fun afternoon with the Dundas Community Family Festival. The festival is full of free activities for kids and families of all ages to enjoy. Some of these activities include horse drawn carriage rides, puppet shows, face painting, and exploring antique fire trucks.

Dundas Family Festival takes place at the Dundas Museum and Archives. The festival begins at 11 am and runs until 3 pm. Admission is free.

Try!Hamilton Concession Street Showcase

Celebrate the wonders of Concession Street at this year’s Concession Street Showcase. For one day only, the street will transform into a full entertainment and investment district. You’ll get to experience the tastes, sights, and sounds of what the street has to offer, as well as learn about the street’s investment potential.

The festival runs between 12 pm and 5 pm. Admission is free.

Bad Apples

Are you a foodie at heart who loves cider? Bad Apples is an incredible dining experience that showcases a brilliant marriage between farm-to-table dining and cider. With live music, great food, and an array of amazing ciders, experience a culinary event like you haven’t seen before.

Chefs Tobias Pohl-Weary and Daniel Holloway will bring the food to life, while beverages showcased come from West Avenue, Nickel Brook Brewing Co., and Knob Creek.

Bad Apples takes place at the West Avenue Cidery, beginning at 7 pm and goes until 11 pm. Tickets are $115 and are available online.

90’s Rager

Feeling nostalgic and missing the 1990’s? Grab your Pogs and boy band merch because Absinthe is throwing a 90’s rager. Take Cover and DJ Party Jesus will be providing all your favourite hits from Biggie to Britney. There will even be a Sega Corner where you can get your video games on — maybe you can finally defeat Dr. Robotnik. Come dance the night away and relive the greatness of the 90’s.

90’s Rager runs from 10 pm to 2 am. Tickets are $5 and are available online.

Sunday

Ride Away Stigma

Ride Away Stigma is a charity bike ride that encourages all to break the stigma surrounding mental health and illness. All funds raised from the ride will support the work of the Suicide Prevention Community Council of Hamilton.

The ride takes place between 8:30 am and 12 pm, meeting at Dundas Driving Park. The ride is free to partake in but donations are encouraged.

Hamilton-Niagara Brain Tumour Walk 2018

Walk to raise funds for the brain tumor community this Sunday. The funds from this event go towards life-changing research, information, support programs, advocacy, awareness, and hope. There will be both a 2.5 and 5 kilometre walk.

The event takes place at Dofasco Park, running from 9 am to 2 pm. Registration begins at 9 am, opening ceremonies start at 10:50 am, and the walks begin at 11 am. You are free to join the walk but are encouraged to donate.

Dialect Workshop with John Nelles

Calling all aspiring voice actors! Legendy voice dialect coach John Nelles will be in Hamilton this Sunday to lead a workshop on dialects. This introduction to accents workshop will be incredibly informative, giving you the skills you need to ace your next audition. Come learn from one of the greats and get a leg up on the competition!

This workshop takes place at The Infinity Forge, running from 10 am to 5 pm. The workshop costs $150 and you can book your spot by contacting booking@theinfinityforge.com

Pilates in the Park for Start2Finish

Get outside and get active with Pilates in the Park. The whole family is welcome to enjoy this fundraiser in support of Start2Finish, a charity committed to promoting health and wellness in children.

Pilates in the Park takes place at the field north of Bennetto Elementary School. The event runs from 10 am to 11 am. Admission is free, but attendees are encouraged to donate.

Sunday Slamfest

If you love good punk music, this event’s for you. Hammer City Records and Jamie Problem are putting on Slamfest; an all-ages punk matinee. Listen to some local bands and be prepared for a great show.

Sunday Slamfest takes place at This Ain’t Hollywood. The show runs from 3pm to 7 pm, with $6 tickets available at the door.
