Hamilton drivers may want to find some alternative routes for the next while, as travel on the Sherman Access will be significantly impacted for more than a month.
The city has announced that the west leg of the Sherman Access is set to close for around six weeks starting on Monday, July 5th and completed by, hopefully, the end of August.
To safely complete rockfall protection work, the City of Hamilton will close the West Leg of the Sherman Access between the Sherman Cut and Charlton Ave E beginning Monday, July 5, 2021 for approximately six weeks.

The closure will allow the city to safely complete some rockfall protection work along the access, including escarpment scaling of loose rocks and installation of rockfall meshing between the Wentworth Stairs and Sherman Cut.
Local drivers are advised to make alternative travel plans for the duration of the closure; though, the city says that HSR Transit will not be impacted.
Additionally, access to Charlton Avenue East and the Wentworth Stairs will be maintained during the project.
