An employee at a Fortinos grocery store location in Ancaster has tested positive for COVID-19, according to the company.
Fortinos’ parent company, Loblaw Companies Limited, added a listing to their online COVID tracker on Tuesday August 25th, saying that a team member at the grocery chain’s location in Ancaster at 57 Wilson Street West tested positive on a presumptive test for the virus.

According to the company, the employee’s last day working in the store was August 19th and they are currently in self-isolation.
The store closed Tuesday night for an enhanced cleaning and sanitation, and has since reopened to public shopping.
This isn’t the first locally reported case of a frontline retail or service worker contracting COVID-19. For example, there have also been reported cases in Hamilton among employees at a Metro and a FreshCo location; coincidentally, both situated by the corner of Upper Gage and Fennell on the Hamilton Mountain.
