Here’s what’s happening in the city this weekend.
Love country music, running and a hardy breakfast? You can’t miss the CCMA Country Run.
This inaugural event is a fun, interactive 5-kilometre run. During the run there will be on-route performances, some of your favourite country artists participating as well as a pancake breakfast waiting for you at the finish line.
The run begins at 9 am. Bib and t-shirt pick-up takes place 7 – 8:30 am at the FirstOntario Centre on the Concourse Level. Registration is $40 and can be completed online.
The Christie Antique & Vintage Show is a market you don’t want to miss. Hundreds of Canada’s top antique and vintage dealers come together at Christie Lake Conservation Area to display and sell an unparalleled variety of treasures.
Whether you’re an avid collector or just enjoy all things vintage, come discover an incredible array of unique goods.
The show runs from 8 am to 5 pm. Children 12 and under get in for free, while general admission tickets cost $10 and are available online.
Kicking of Hamilton’s incredible month of festivals is this year’s Locke Street Festival. With vendors, live entertainment and plenty of great food, this annual festival has everything you need for a fun-filled family day out.
In addition to the regular merchants along Locke Street, the festival welcomes over a hundred external vendors selling a wide range of arts, crafts and wares. With all of these goodies, you’re bound to find some incredible, one-of-a-kind gems!
Locke Street Festival takes place along Locke Street and begins at 10 am. Admission is free but be sure to bring your wallet to purchase some awesome finds.
Celebrate the back to school season with Mountain Kidz Klub.
The community party features a petting zoo, kids games, raffles as well as a penny sale. A local Hamilton band will provide live entertainment.
The community party takes place at the Eastmount Community Centre from 1 – 4 pm. Admission is absolutely free but donations are greatly appreciated.
Love art of all kinds? Looking for that perfect, hand-crafted gift? Be sure to check out Dundas’ Artisan Market.
The Artisan Market features the original work of over 60 artists. The kind of art being featured at the market includes paintings, pottery, woodwork, jewelry, garden art, glass work, metal work and photography.
The Artisan Market takes place at the Dundas Driving Park. Admission is free and the event runs from 10 am to 4 pm.
Get ready to wiggle, waggle and walk for the animals at the HBSPCA!
This pledged, 5-kilometre charity walk ensures that the Hamilton/Burlington SPCA has the funds to continue caring for animals in their shelter and throughout the community. After the walk, participants have access to a K9 fun zone, kid’s activities, a vendor marketplace and a silent auction. There will be music and fun games throughout the day.
This year’s walk takes place at Bayfront Park, running from 10 am to 2 pm. The event is open to all ages and is free to attend, but donations are greatly encouraged.
Come on out and watch Hammer City Roller Derby in their annual Brawl by the Bay match-up.
The league will divide into two teams and face off against each other. This match will feature the league’s finest, fiercest and freshest stars.
Brawl by the Bay runs from 2 – 4 pm and takes place at the Pier 8 Skate Pad. Admission to this full-contact battle is completely free. Be sure to bring a lawn chair and arrive early to secure a good spot!
The Canadian Country Music Association Awards is taking place in Hamilton! This award show is a must-attend event for all country lovers.
Hosted by Shania Twain, the CCMA Awards celebrates the country music industry’s brightest stars and biggest achievements. The event features live performances, speeches from country legends and the giving of awards to incredible musicians.
The CCMA Awards takes place at the FirstOntario Centre at 8 pm. Tickets begin at $57 and are available on Ticketmaster. Can’t attend the event? Be sure to tune into CBC to watch it all go down live!
