3 new cafes opened in Hamilton this week

Hamilton’s coffee shop scene is truly thriving as this week saw the opening of three new cafés. Scattered across the city, each café brings something new to Hamilton’s ever-growing collection of places to grab a warm beverage.

Synonym Shop

Synonym opened the doors to their James Street North shop on August 30. Aesthetically brilliant, Synonym is quickly becoming the new neighbourhood hangout that celebrates art, design and culture.

One of the coolest parts about Synonym (besides their clean lines, pastries by @deargrainbreads and craft beer on tap) is their inclusion of a bookshop. Their bookshop is a direct reflection of the store as a whole, as the books they carry celebrate global art, design and culture. Each book is available for sale, as well as to flip through while you sip your coffee.

Only one week in, Synonym is already creating waves across the city. This store will easily become a creative hub and the birthplace of great things.

Mustard Seed Cafe

The Mustard Seed Café opened on September 4. Located at 460 York Boulevard, the café is the newest addition and sister operation to The Mustard Seed Co-Operative Grocery.

Their drink menu features fair trade coffee, tea, espresso and lattes as well as Italian sodas with house-made syrups. As the café grows, The Mustard Seed plans to incorporate an ever-evolving menu of specialty drinks and snacks that reflect the changing seasons.

The café features both indoor and outdoor seating, as well as a take-out counter. Whether you need a spot to relax before your morning commute, a space to catch up with a friend or just need to grab something quick to start your day, The Mustard Seed Café is sure to become a community favourite.

Nuttybutter

Nuttybutter is the newest café, having officially opened their doors on Friday, September 7. Located at 241 King Street East, the Parisian inspired café is the perfect addition to Hamilton’s bustling International Village.

Nuttybutter is set to become a gourmet paradise. The café itself features crisp white designs, fine details and a gorgeous chandelier. Their drink menu includes espresso drinks, an assortment of teas and cold brew. Keeping with their Parisian theme, they carry treats such as macarons and gelato.

If you need a calm, relaxing spot for a warm drink and a treat, Nuttybutter is the café to visit. We can’t wait to watch this café become a huge success.

Have you visited any of these cafés yet? What’s your favourite Hamilton café? Let us know in the comments.
