3 Hamilton police officers wounded with knife in altercation on James North

If you were wondering what all the commotion was on James North yesterday afternoon, three Hamilton police officers were injured with knife wounds to the head and face in an altercation with an individual in crisis.

Shortly after 3:00 pm on Tuesday December 22nd, Hamilton Police were on the scene at James North to respond to reports of an individual acting erratically and carrying a knife.

The 24 year-old from Oakville was located in the area of James North and Robert Street by police, who he immediately confronted while wielding his weapon; an altercation that resulted in three Hamilton police officers being stabbed in the head and neck.

The officers were subsequently transported to hospital for treatment, where they remain in stable condition.

According to a release on the Hamilton Police website, this is an isolated incident with no further concern for public safety. Additionally, an active investigation is underway with further updates to come.

The 24 year-old has been arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a police officer, four counts of resisting arrest, and one count of carrying a dangerous weapon.
