Hamilton will host CCMAs again in 2020

Hamilton’s Country Music Week was nothing short of amazing. The five-day affair showcased rising stars, free entertainment, plenty of concerts and ended with the Canadian Country Music Awards. After such a successful week, it’s no surprise that Hamilton has been chosen to host the CCMAs again in 2020.

Mayor Fred Eisenberger and CCMA president Tracy Martin made the announcement Saturday night during the Canadian Country Music Association gala awards dinner.

During their announcement, the duo shared that they’ve been working on plans to bring the CCMAs back to Hamilton for months.

Having Country Music Week in the city has brought many opportunities for Hamilton businesses and schools.

It’s been estimated that Country Music Week brought more than 10,000 visitors into Hamilton. This influx of visitors means people were shopping, eating and exploring across the city.

Country Music Week also brought CCMA Award winner Meghan Patrick to James MacDonald Elementary School for a surprise performance. Previously, the school had received $5,000 worth of instruments through the MusiCounts Band Aid Program.

As part of Country Music Week, the CCMA and MusiCounts joined together again to surprise the school with an additional $5,000 in new instruments for their music program.

September 2020 will be the seventeenth time Hamilton’s had to opportunity to host the Canadian Country Music Awards.
