A heat warning is in effect for Hamilton today

Hot enough out there for you today, Hamilton? Well, it should be, as the City of Hamilton has issued a heat warning that begins today, Tuesday June 9th.

Hamilton’s medical officer of health has issued the warning for the city, saying that extreme heat is expected to impact Hamilton beginning today and continuing through to Wednesday.

Daytime temperatures are predicted to reach a high of 32 degrees Celsius today, with similar highs and an increase of humidity expected for Wednesday. During Tuesday evening, temperatures are expected to drop down to a low of 20 degrees Celsius.

The high humidity on Wednesday could also bring some thunderstorms by mid-afternoon, with a 40 per cent chance of rain predicted. From there, temperatures are expected to drop as of Wednesday night.

In response to this and other heat warnings, Hamilton has instituted a number of ‘cooling stations’ at various community centres and recreation facilities around the city for residents who need the opportunity to cool off and drink some water. Locals are also encouraged to stay inside, and keep cool and hydrated.

Updates on the heat warning can be tracked on the City of Hamilton website.
