Arson attack sets fire to Sizzle nightclub in Hamilton

Hamilton nightclub Sizzle was the victim of an arson attack early Tuesday morning.

The Hess Village nightclub at 25 Hess Street South has seen significant damage from the attack, which saw Hamilton Fire workers on the scene extinguishing the blaze before 6 am this morning.

Sizzle owner and manager Ken Collett told Urbanicity that two masked individuals approached the club from the street, smashed in the windows, poured gasoline inside, then ignited it before fleeing the scene. Collett estimates that Sizzle will be out of business for at least the next 8 to 10 months as a result.

Thankfully, despite the clear impacts to the building itself, no injuries have been reported.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing; so far, it’s unclear who the masked individuals were or what the attack may have been motivated by.

More to come on this story.
