Another arson attack against a Hamilton small business? What the heck is going on?
Popular Hamilton taco joint and nightlife spot The Mule, a notable member of King William Street’s Restaurant Row, suffered minor damages after an arsonist set fire to their small outdoor patio on April 25th.

The arsonist, a 29 year-old male with no fixed address by the name of Shawn Murray, was caught on security camera dousing some of The Mule’s patio furniture with some sort of flammable liquid before setting a portion of the patio on fire and leaving the premises by heading southbound down Hughson Street.
Luckily, a delivery driver passing by was quick to see the fire and extinguished the flames with water, leaving only minor damages to The Mule’s outdoor patio space.
Stranger still, this arson attack – one with no clear motive – is apparently disconnected from the recent ones along James Street North, which impacted downtown businesses La Bichette, Born & Raised, and Grey Harbour Tattoo – the latter of which saw the most devastating damage.
Murray was arrested on Wednesday, with a court date set for June 30th.
