Art Spin Hamilton rides off tonight

What if you could get some good exercise in and embrace your cultural side by taking in some art at the same time?
Art Spin Hamilton is here to let you do just that, with their next local event taking place tonight at 6 pm.
Cyclists will begin at Shamrock Park and join each other on a leisurely bike ride along the stunning Escarpment Trail, eventually ending up in Gage Park. Along the way, there will be numerous art installations created specifically for the event by local artists Julia Garlisi, Tess Martens, and Chris Myhr, who have been commissioned to activate various unique natural spaces with original artwork inspired by Gage Park’s influence on the city.
Then, the destination will end up being just as awesome as the journey! At the culmination of the ride, cyclists are treated to an afterparty in the Gage Park Tropical Greenhouse, where video based artworks by Alana Bartol, Mara Eagle, Tegan Moore, Emily Moriarty, and Ursula Biemann will be exhibited. There will also be plenty of food and drink at the evening festivities that attendees can bring cash to partake in.
While tonight’s event is BYOB (bring your own bicycle), those who don’t own their own wheels are encouraged to take advantage of SoBi Hamilton’s convenient bike share rental system for the evening.
With its origins in Toronto, Art Spin is a community initiative that combines the enjoyment of art with the enjoyment of cycling. Given the increasing number of cyclists in Hamilton and the growing strength of the city’s bustling local art scene, these two unlikely elements just might prove to be an unexpectedly perfect match.
