Beloved Hamilton fish & chip shop is closing after 40 years

One of Hamilton’s longstanding fish & chip shops has announced that it is turning off the fryers after 40 years serving the city.

Harry’s Fish & Chips, located 1138 Fennell Avenue East on the Hamilton Mountain, has been regarded by many locals as some of the best fish & chips in town since opening in 1982.

However, after decades of service, Harry’s Fish & Chips has sadly announced its plans to close and move on to other projects.

“We want to thank all of our wonderful guests and employees for supporting us over these years,” wrote Harry’s Fish & Chips on social media.

“For a restaurant to survive and thrive for 40 years is an accomplishment of which we can all be proud of. We could not have done it without all of you!”

Thankfully, there is a bit of a silver lining: Harry’s Fish & Chips is currently attempting to pass the business along and keep it alive in Hamilton rather than closing up for good.

“We are hoping to find a buyer who really appreciates the business, understands how to operate it properly, and is eager and capable of developing its future potential and continue the tradition of bringing people together and having a sense of being home away from home,” said the restaurant.

Whatever the future of Harry’s Fish & Chips may be, the current restaurant as Hamilton knows it will be open until December 24th, 2022; so go get those final orders in and bid farewell to this local staple!
