Those who regularly use the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge for their commutes will have to make alternate arrangements for the next few months.
A notice from the Canadian government explains that the bridge will be closed to motorists, cyclists, and pedestrians beginning Tuesday, January 2nd at 12 am.

The closure, which is in place to accommodate construction work, will be lifted on Wednesday, March 20th at 12 am, at which point the Burlington Canal Lift Bridge will be fully accessible once again.
This is a similar timeline to 2023’s closure of the lift bridge, which began in early January and ended in late March.
Signage will be in place for the duration of the closure to direct drivers to alternate routes, and Public Services and Procurement Canada advises users to exercise caution while travelling during this time.
