Yesterday, many Hamiltonians noticed a group of helicopters circling the downtown area and Mountain. Some residents believed the helicopters were part of a film set (as Hamilton is a popular filming location) while others were left confused or panicked.
Truth is that the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) are conducting routine training in Hamilton this week. This particular training involves CH-146 Griffon utility tactical transport rotary-wing aircrafts — better known as helicopters. The training will provide the skill of readiness to CAF pilots.
Reminder: members of the @CanadianForces are conducting routine training in Hamilton May 15-17, 3-5:30pm and 8:30-11pm, expect to see and hear helicopters performing flights around downtown #HamOnt.

This week’s scheduled flights take place in the afternoon and late evening. The first flight takes place between 3 pm to 5:30 pm, while the second goes from 8:30 pm to 11 pm. The training began on Tuesday, May 15 and will end Thursday, May 17.
These training sessions have been carefully planned by the CAF, ensuring that each session is closely controlled for public safety.
Residents who live in and around the Stelco area can expect periods of increased noise.
Interested in helicopters or all things Armed Forces? This would be a neat experience to view. Take a look outside during flight times and check it out.
