Baby falcons cancel helicopter training in Hamilton

After surprising most Hamiltonians with helicopter training on Tuesday, the Canadian Armed Forces have cancelled what was supposed to be a 3-day training for the area.

The reason for it was not due to noise complaints, however, but because of four baby falcons that just hatched on a ledge at the Sheraton Hotel.

The low flying helicopters were considered to be causing a great disturbance to the falcons, which are considered a threatened species. Once the forces got word of the news, they terminated any further training.

The Canadian Armed Forces say that they managed to get enough done on Tuesday to satisfy this week’s training so they’re not too concerned about cutting the week short.

Judging by the FalconCam live stream, the chicks seem to be doing fine.

Are you happy training ended early in Hamilton? Let us know in the comments!
