The antique and vintage show at Christie Lake Conservation Area – an annual Hamilton tradition for more than 30 years – is seeing its permanent end.
The popular event would take over a large portion of the conservation area each year, hosting a wide variety in vendors dealing in special antique and vintage finds.
The Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) made the announcement that the Christie Antique & Vintage Show, which has been on hiatus for the past two years due to the pandemic, will be ceasing operations effective immediately following an operational review.

According to the HCA’s analysis, there has been an ‘unprecedented surge’ in new memberships for their network of conservation areas, with HCA memberships growing from approximately 6,000 in 2019 to more than 12,000 in 2021.
“At Christie Lake Conservation Area, people enjoy beach time, boating, hiking, biking and picnicking,” reads their message. “Closing off the park to some of those activities in order to prepare and host large events, like the Christie Show, is simply now too hard to justify.”
This, combined with increased costs of running the event, has prompted the HCA to discontinue it going forward in spite of its decades-long success.
