Gluten Free Goodness Expo brings the best gluten-free food to Hamilton

Whether a lifestyle choice or dietary need, gluten-free eating is more widespread now than ever before.

Hamilton entrepreneur and event producer Jackie Fenton certainly knows it, which is why she’s launched the Gluten Free Goodness Expo: an event showcasing the best gluten-free makers and food purveyors the region has to offer.

Taking place on Sunday, October 22nd from 10 am to 4 pm at the Ancaster Fairgrounds, the Gluten Free Goodness Expo will feature a whopping 50 vendors specializing in gluten-free deliciousness of all kinds, from baked goods to multi-cultural specialties  to soups to beverages to packaged snacks and everything in between.

Creating the expo was a no-brainer for Fenton, who has been working in the events business for over a decade and began creating events like Gluten Free Goodness Expo – putting niche subjects and local makers front and centre – back in 2017.

“I had been involved in the gluten free community for a number of years and saw first-hand what a challenge it was for people suffering from Celiac Disease to find great  products that were safe as well as delicious,” she says.

“In late 2018, when the opportunity arose for me to expand my business, the first thing I decided to do was create a show where the gluten free community could gather under one roof to sample, savour, and shop all the good things that are gluten free.”

Fenton’s hyper-local focus has led to a lineup of 50 passionate small businesses and family-run companies from Hamilton and surrounding regions like Burlington, Niagara, Guelph, Oakville, and Kitchener.

Visitors at the expo won’t find any shortage of enticing food & drink options, whether it’s small-batch breads by The Gluten Free Bread Co, artisanal hot sauce by Mojo Peppa Sauce, Mexican-style cured meats from Black Sombrero, baked goods by Rosy’s Kitchen, seed-based dips and cream cheeses by Humble Seedz, and even dog treats by Barkday Treats.

That list barely scratches the surface on a roster of vendors that also includes coffee roasters, juice makers, kombucha brewers, mushroom farmers, Celiac Disease researchers, and much more.

Though the focus is naturally on Celiac-friendly products, there will also be plenty of vegetarian, vegan, dairy-free, keto, and kosher foods on hand, making the Gluten Free Goodness Expo an event you certainly don’t have to be gluten free to enjoy.

“Being a true foodie, the variety is what makes it exciting for me,” adds Fenton. “There really is something for everyone.”

Gluten Free Goodness Expo runs Sunday, October 22nd from 10 am to 4 pm at the Ancaster Fairgrounds. Get tickets and see a full lineup of vendors on their website, and follow them on social media here.
