Gone are the days of hopping on the train mere seconds before rolling out of the station, because GO Transit has begun closing train doors to passengers a minute prior to the scheduled departure time at select stations.
Transit agency Metrolinx says the move – which went into effect on Monday, January 9th – is one that will help keep trains on time by making departures more efficient.

This change is exclusive to GO trains and will not affect GO buses or the UP Express.
The stations impacted by this new measure include West Harbour GO, Hamilton GO Centre, Union Station, Milton GO, Niagara Falls GO, Old Elm GO, London GO, Allandale GO, Kitchener GO, Bloomington GO, and Durham College Oshawa GO.
GO Transit users are being notified about the changes via public address systems, alerts, and on-train announcements.
