Hamilton bottle shop and cafe Sunny Corner Bar is closing its doors

A lovely corner shop and bar for craft beer, wine, coffee, and Australian-style sausage rolls and hand pies has announced it is sadly closing its doors.

Sunny Corner Bar sits at the corner of James North and Barton Street, where it has been owned and operated by Dahlia Ishak and Ray Turner – formerly of Corktown café Salty Espresso – since April 2020.

On top of offering a strong selection of Ontario craft beer and some intriguing natural wine selections, Sunny Corner Bar also quickly gained a reputation for its excellent, handmade sausage rolls, hand pies, and other tasty pastries.

Unfortunately, despite recently adding a coffee program to their offerings, Sunny Corner Bar’s last day of operations in their James North storefront is March 31st, 2023.

“Our lease is now up, and we’re sad to leave the corner, but are energized and excited to have re-connected to something we love,” wrote Sunny Corner in a post on social media.

Thankfully, though, this isn’t truly the end: Ishak and Turner have expressed their plans to keep Sunny Corner alive in a more nomadic format.

“We have lots of plans in the works, and there will be Aussie Rolls, Pies and Treats popping up in your life very soon. This isn’t the end, but rather a new chapter that we are excited to explore.”
