One of Hamilton’s sweetest small businesses has announced its plans to close its physical storefront and pivot to online sales.
Candi Werx has been a popular shop along Concession Street on the Hamilton Mountain since 2017, known for its hard-to-find treats, imported candy, homemade chocolates, and beyond.
However, due to what shop owner Jules Gauthier has described as an ‘untenable’ situation with her landlords, she has announced the decision to not renew her lease at the end of the year and close the Concession storefront, switching purely to e-commerce.
“I have been trying for over a year with the assistance of a lawyer to negotiate fair terms. My landlords have made it very clear that they’re not willing to cooperate,” said Gauthier in a video posted to Candi Werx’s social media.
Locals have until December 31st to visit Candi Werx in person before the business shifts to 100 per cent online sales in 2024.
