Popular Italian restaurant on James North is closing its doors

The onslaught of closures for Hamilton’s Italian restaurants continues with a more recent addition to the city that will be ceasing operations at its James North space.

Castelli Cucina cemented itself as a local favourite for finely crafted takes on rustic Italian classics like pasta, pizza, and beyond served in cozy trappings at 337 James Street North.

Headed by owner and chef Daniel Mancini – he of the family behind Hamilton’s beloved mainstay Sweet Paradise – the restaurant has announced that it is bidding farewell to bustling James North and closing its doors at the end of 2023 after five years in business.

“Five years of learning, meeting new chefs & people, making hundreds of pizzas, thousands of plates of pasta, and serving all you amazing people soon comes to a halt,” wrote Castelli Cucina in a brief farewell announcement on their social media.

However, it’s not a total goodbye: this year also saw the arrival of Mancini’s latest project Castelli Mercato in Ancaster, which has already developed a hefty fanbase for its excellent pizzas, Italian baked goods, sandwiches, and imported pantry items.

Castelli Cucina’s last day on James North is December 31st, so pop on by for one final meal to say goodbye!
