A Hamilton organization that platforms Black-owned businesses and entrepreneurs has created a special local merch box for Black History Month.
BLK-Owned Hamilton is launching special BLK History Month Boxes in February, giving locals the chance to experience handmade products by local Black-owned businesses and find some new favourites.
Over the last year, @sheridancollege grad Ashleigh Montague’s (Project Management ’16) BLK OWNED Hamilton has supported over 50 BIPOC-owned businesses, helping them to boost their sales through pop-up markets in the Hamilton, Niagara and Brantford regions.

“The BLK OWNED Black History Boxes celebrate the hardworking and often underrepresented black-owned businesses that make up our community,” reads a note on their website.
The boxes are currently on pre-order until February 18th, and the basic box features a BLK History hoodie designed by Aaron Perry, a body butter by Oaesis Within, turmeric soap by Bubbles Lips & Cosmetics, coffee beans by Manchester Coffee, and a Cajun butter sauce by Vzzz’s Caribbean Catering.
For even more local products, the box can be upgraded to include the Self-Love Bundle, with shower bombs by Elle Noire, a candle by The Glowing Carden, and essential oil blends by Make a Moment.
There’s also a Youth Bundle add-on available, including a bath bomb by Khi Khi Blast and a copy of the book ABC Where Are We? Africa! By Traveling Feet Books.
