Hamilton prepares businesses for LRT construction

Whether you are for or against it, light rail transit (LRT) is coming to Hamilton. To better prepare business owners for what’s to come during construction, the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce is launching a series of seminars.

The four part series, appropriately titled “Countdown to Construction”, begins this Thursday.

With construction expected to last until 2024, businesses along King Street are sure to experience disruptions. Hamilton’s Chamber of Commerce stresses that such disruptions will be manageable and only temporary. Other issues that may arise during construction will be addressed at the seminars.

Despite many Hamiltonians’ negative stance on the LRT, the provincially-funded project will proceed as scheduled. Chamber President Keanin Loomis believes that the city may even be able to begin construction next year.

The first part of the “Countdown to Construction” series takes place July 19 at Homewood Suites from 6 to 8 pm. Light refreshments will be provided.

Are you a King Street business owner? How do you feel about the Hamilton LRT? Let us know in the comments.
