A new national ranking has put Hamilton on the list of the top 10 safest cities in Canada.
The ranking comes from Money.ca’s survey of the Canadian Crime Index, calculating the number of crime offences per 100,000 people in each Canadian city.
Hitting the very top of the list as Canada’s safest city based on this data analysis is Toronto at 286.9 offences per 100,000 people, which Quebec City in second place at 301 and Ottawa-Gatineau, Quebec in third.
Though not topping the list, Hamilton managed to squeak in at the tenth position with 420.6 offences per 100,000 people.
Toronto was deemed the safest city to reside in within Canada, according to the latest Canadian Crime Index survey conducted by Money .ca

Other Canadian cities on the top 10 list including Barrie; Montreal; Sherbrooke; Ottawa-Gatineau, Ontario; Trois-Rivières; and Saguenay.
The survey took rates of various crimes into account when generating the list including arson, break & enters, robberies, impaired driving, and homicide.
