Hamilton has just reported its latest death related to COVID-19, marking the 47th official COVID-19 death locally since the start of the pandemic.
The new recorded death came alongside Monday’s new daily counts of COVID-19 cases in the city, and was confirmed by Hamilton public health to be a 68-year-old man who died in hospital on October 4th with a community spread-related case of COVID-19.

The second most recent COVID-19 related death occurred within the last two weeks in an 83-year-old woman. Prior to that, the city hadn’t recorded a new COVID-19 death since July 27th, which was also the city’s youngest to date at 48 years old.
Of the 47 deaths, 34 were related to institutional outbreaks, according to local public health.
Monday also saw an increase of 11 new confirmed COVID-19 cases in Hamilton, leaving 113 known active cases and bringing the city’s overall total to 1,210 since the pandemic began.
