The infected employee was known to have spent time in the Life Sciences Building on campus, and had followed all of McMaster’s safety protocols while visiting. The building has received multiple thorough cleanings out of an abundance of caution.
Contact tracing efforts are being handled by Hamilton public health, who will contact any individuals who may have been affected by the positive case.
This new confirmed COVID-19 case comes just five days after McMaster reported a case found in a student who was present on campus, and is the university’s fourth overall confirmed case within the last month; even with the majority of the fall term taking place remotely and virtually.
