Local motorists should be extra careful now, as the City of Hamilton has announced it is returning to enforcing payment at all city parking meters and municipal parking lots.
Beginning today, Saturday May 16th, Hamilton drivers will once again be required to pay the required rate at meters or designated parking lot payment kiosks in order to legally park.
Starting this Saturday, May 16 payment will once again be required and enforced at all PARKING meters and lots, to ensure that on-street parking and parking in municipal lots is available for businesses and employees. Learn more: https://t.co/Y3vYNWgL8M #HamiltonReopens pic.twitter.com/cE7yjmfRtT

However, in recognition of the current realities of COVID-19 and in support of Hamilton’s small businesses, the city is making some concessions for metered parking during an era where curb-side pickup and delivery are leading the way.
Until further notice, parking at all city meters will be free for the first 30 minutes to accommodate those who need to park briefly for quick transactions, including delivery drivers and locals participating in curb-side pickup.
So, if you need a minute to grab that burrito or pick up a pre-order at your favourite local shop, you can do so without worrying about getting dinged by city parking authority.
More information on municipal parking can be found on the City of Hamilton website.
