Hamilton surpasses $2 billion in construction, new city record

Hamilton is breaking records for construction value in 2023.
A release from the city reveals that Hamilton has reached a new milestone for its highest construction value on record at $2,133,057,915, which surpasses the previous record set in 2021.
The $2 billion mark was officially hit on October 13th, with the city’s all-time construction value record broken as of October 19th. This value represents 4,755 building projects within Hamilton’s residential, commercial, institutional, and industrial sectors.

“Hamilton is building housing. Hamilton is building its economy and industry. Hamilton is demonstrating what’s possible when a city focuses its efforts on smart, strategic growth,” said Mayor Andrea Horwath.
“This new milestone for construction reflects a new approach in our City, and a focus on getting things done for the people of Hamilton.”
The success of the construction industry in Hamilton is expected to support the city’s economic growth and its job market while creating new housing and places for businesses to take root.
