Heads up, Hamilton drivers: the city is planning to add 10 new red light cameras to local streets by the end of 2022.
This will mean even more intersections throughout Hamilton that can automatically catch motorists who run red lights and send out a fine by mail to offenders.

Hamilton already has 32 red light cameras in the city, and these new 10 cameras are meant to target intersections on the Hamilton Mountain as well as areas like Dundas, Ancaster, Stoney Creek, Glanbrook, and Flamborough.
The new red light cameras will be installed at Paramount Drive and Winterberry Drive, Highway 8 and Grays Road, Barton Street and Fruitland Road, Upper James Street and Airport Road, Garner Road East and Southcote Road, Wilson Street West and Hwy 52/Trinity Road South, Cootes Drive and Dundas Street, Stone Church Road West and Upper Paradise, Garth Street and Fennell Avenue West, and Highway 5 East and Hamilton Street North.
The fine for running a red light in Hamilton is $260 plus a $60 victim surcharge and $5 for costs, to a total of $325 per offence.
