One of Hamilton’s outstanding craft breweries took home high honours at a national competition.
Clifford Brewing was one of dozens of breweries from across Canada to compete in the 2023 Canada Beer Cup, bringing some of their best beers along to go head-to-head with other terrific breweries nationwide.
The brewery, known for its exceptional takes on old-world styles like porters and English milds, ended up taking home three medals at the Canada Beer Cup this year for three beers that stood out in their respective categories.
The first is a Gold win in the Porter category for their Clifford Nitro Porter: a take on their flagship Porter that’s carbonated with nitrogen for a silky-smooth, creamy texture that well complements the beer’s balanced chocolate, coffee, and vanilla notes.
They also took home Silver in the Mild Ale category for Brave Captain, their easy-drinking, malt-forward English ale that’s nutty, semi-sweet, and slightly bitter on the palate.
Finally, a second Silver win was awarded in the Belgian Style Blonde Ale category for Marigold, a Belgian golden ale that’s fruity, spicy, floral, and punchy.
It’s no surprise to see this acclaimed Hamilton brewery stand out on a national level and put the city on the map!
