Someone drove a car into Poke Co on Ottawa Street in Hamilton

One of Hamilton’s most cursed corners strikes again.
Poke Co, located at 179 Ottawa Street North, shared a photo to Instagram on Wednesday morning revealing that the southeast-facing corner of their storefront at Ottawa Street North and Cannon Street has been impacted by a vehicle, causing considerable damaging their façade.
“Here we go again…” reads the caption on the post, and it’s an apt response: this particular street corner is notorious for being a spot for vehicles colliding with buildings.
In fact, it happened multiple times to Cannon Coffee Co in the same storefront before they moved to their new home across the street. Even in that new space, a car drove into the front of the café a few months ago.
What’s clear is that the city must take immediate action to reduce these risks at Cannon and Ottawa. Ward 3 councillor Nrinder Nann reached out to Poke Co via a comment on their Instagram post, expressing intent to flag the incident to the city’s roads and traffic planning teams.
