After a hard fought 40 day campaign, Hamiltonians stayed loyal to the Liberals, NDP and Conservative incumbents in each of the city’s ridings.
The only new MP in the area is Matthew Green, who took over for long-serving NDP MP Dave Christopherson, as the NDP continue their dominance in the downtown core.
Hamilton area voters elected to keep the city red, despite the Liberals losing their majority and settling for a minority government. The Liberals were able to hold onto their Hamilton seats as incumbents Filomena Tassi in Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas, Bob Bratina in Hamilton East-Stoney Creek and Karina Gould in Burlington were all re-elected.
I am honoured and humbled that the people of Hamilton West-Ancaster-Dundas have re-elected me. I will work tirelessly for my beloved Hamilton, for Canada and for you. I look forward to working collaboratively with my caucus colleagues and the opposition. #HamOnt

The city’s electoral map will look the same following the campaign as the NDP also kept both of their two Hamilton seats.
Matthew Green continued the NDP dominance in Hamilton Centre after taking over from the former MP. The other NDP MP elected was incumbent Scott Duvall who continues in his role representing Hamilton Mountain.

There was only one surprise as the results flooded in last night as the Conservative incumbent, David Sweet, in Flamborough-Glanbrook was neck-and-neck with Liberal challenger Jennifer Stebbing. At one point, Sweet only led by one vote with about 80% of the votes counted.
After all the ups and downs during the 2019 federal campaign and strings of party leaders visiting the city, the majority of the Hamilton area remains the same with just one new face in Ottawa.
