The Vagina Monologues spotlights Hamilton’s most exciting performers

Get excited, Hamilton: there’s a brand new theatre company in town and they’re hitting the ground running.
Founded just this year by local actor Laura Welch, Light Echo Theatre is a new independent theatre company committed to producing engaging theatre that has resonating impact on local audiences, regardless of the context of the play’s time period or subject matter.
That mission certainly comes across in the very first production Light Echo will be mounting at The Staircase Theatre on November 1st: The Vagina Monologues, a seminal play by Eve Ensler that will feature performances a host of the Hamilton area’s strongest talent.
This one-night-only performance not only serves as an introduction for the company, it is also being used for a greater public good: all of the profits from ticket sales will be donated to SACHA and Birth Mark, two worthy and relevant Hamilton charities.
“(The Vagina Monologues) has a history of raising money to end sexual violence, and that fits perfectly with our mandate (which) recognizes that theatre has a broad and important impact on our communities beyond just the performance itself,” says Light Echo’s artistic director Laura Welch, who will also be appearing in the piece as a performer.
She will be joined by other exciting local actors who are no stranger to stages in Hamilton and beyond, including Kaleigh Gorka, Melissa Murray-Mutch, Emanuela Hall, and Shaw Festival ensemble member Emily Lukasik.
