Here’s a map of every magnolia tree in Lower Hamilton

While the cold weather streak we’ve been having may not convince you that it’s spring yet, the trees in Hamilton are taking little issue with the cold and have begun to bloom.

The group behind The Everyone Rides Initiative  — a group committed to equity in cycling — has put together a map that marks all of the known magnolia trees in the lower city.

You can view the map through this link.

If you’ve been itching for a reason to get out of the house, the burst of magnolia blossoms may be the exact motivation you’re looking for.

As you become more familiar with your neighborhood magnolias, you may notice that the “star” magnolia trees with white flowers tend to bloom earlier than their pink-hued counterparts. That means different sites will yield different intensities of blooms (and more reason to visit multiple times)!

In an effort to protect yourself and others during the pandemic, we ask that anyone who is set to explore the spring blossoms to participate in this activity safely. Adhere to physical distancing measures whenever you are out by keeping at least 2 meters away from other people.

Happy exploring!
