Like most events of significance this year, today’s Remembrance Day ceremonies are going to look a bit different amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
The City of Hamilton will instead be hosting the annual Remembrance Day service in a virtual format instead, paying respect to our veterans through a ceremony as well as select highlights from Hamilton’s past Remembrance Day services.
Lest we forget.
Due to COVID-19, there will be no military parades or large public gatherings at any City cenotaphs. The Lancaster will conduct a flyover of #HamOnt in acknowledgement of #RemembranceDay. Watch virtual service @cable14 or here: https://t.co/0JABIealXR. pic.twitter.com/KE22sR5eGe

The event will be available to watch at 10:30 am via livestream this morning on Cable 14 or through the Cable 14 website.
This year, with the limitations of the pandemic, the event will be fairly scaled back from the usual, with no military parade or live performances as part of the events.
“As the pandemic has prevented us from gathering together in person, it is more important than ever to honour our veterans and military members by attending virtual Remembrance Day events and by wearing red poppies in honour of those who served and sacrificed their future to protect the freedom of our country,” says Hamilton’s Mayor Fred Eisenberger.
