Jackson Square location of Coles is closing after 51 years

It feels like the end of an era as the Hamilton location of bookstore chain Coles in Jackson Square will be closing its doors.

Coles has been one of the anchor tenants of the iconic Jackson Square mall for decades, offering books in a multitude of genres alongside magazines, stationary, and gifts.

However, an announcement from founder and CEO Heather Reisman explains that – after 51 years – Coles in Jackson Square will be shuttering for good as of April 6th, 2024.

“I want to stary by saying that any decision to close a store is so difficult,” said Reisman in a statement. “We know well that every one of our stores becomes a living, breathing part of the community, and of course this is the case with your store.”

With the rapidly coming closure, Coles Jackson Square is hosting a closing sale, including an additional 50 per cent off bargain books and an additional 25 per cent off select toys and gift items.

The Coles location at Hamilton’s Lime Ridge Mall remains open.
