In an age where most food and beverage places have a staff of minimum wage students struggling to survive and do their jobs, Jake’s is a place of professional service by people who have been around for a while, giving this establishment a sense of permanence.

The menu is about good fish and seafood – hearty, tasty, and light. Oysters, of course, are a favorite staple. Wines are well priced to suit all tastes and budgets. They add other new items, such as chicken wings finished on the grill or fish tacos, from time to time.

This is a place where you could celebrate a birthday or bring your friends for a bite and drinks before a night out on the town. It is versatile and comfortable, suiting all tastes and budgets. Proprietor Jamie Myers is often there, greeting guests and chatting with them, and so are manager Doug Baskott and his team of dedicated professionals.

Do I recommend it? A definite yes, anytime! It is fun and relaxed with great food and drinks to be had. Jake’s is a Burlington icon indeed. And don’t forget its out-of-the-way, partially covered patio – perfect for a late-summer night.
