King Street Hill closed after huge chunk of pavement collapses

Commuters might have to take an alternate route home tonight as the King Street Hill in Dundas has closed due to massive erosion.

A startling photo shared by Ward 13 Councillor Arlene VanderBeek on Facebook shows a good chunk of the rightmost lane ascending Dundas’ Regional Road 8 Hill completely collapsed, in what will undoubtedly be a headache for motorists and a sizeable repair on the part of the city.

A statement issues by the City of Hamilton indicates that the road is currently closed in both directions between Bond Street and Hillcrest Avenue, and will remain so until further notice once the damage and necessary repairs have been assessed.

The City of Hamilton also expresses plans to expedite the repair process and reopen the streets as soon as possible, and will continue to provide updates on progress.
