A fixture bakery of the Downtown Dundas strip is closing its doors after an impressive 25 years in business.
The Village Bakery, located most recently at 104 King Street West in the landmark Old Post Office building, was known for its old-fashioned treats and baked goods like cookies, tarts, breads, cakes, and more.
Though the bakery has remained one of Dundas’ mainstay small businesses throughout the past quarter-century, it has bittersweetly closed its doors and bid farewell as owner Susan Preston plans to retire.
“After 25 years in the bakery business having gone through so many changes and upheavals I’m finally going to hang up my oven mitts and start something new,” wrote Preston in a post on Instagram.
Preston’s retirement is a well-earned one: she turned The Village Bakery into one of Downtown Dundas’ most prominent spots through her enticing baked goods and lots of active involvement in the community. It’s not a stretch to say this bakery will be dearly missed.
