Man charged with impaired driving after truck falls through ice at Bayfront Park

Hamilton Police arrested a 32-year-old man for impaired driving after his truck fell through the ice at the Bayfront Boat Launch.
The man managed to escape the truck before it became almost fully submerged under the icy water at Hamilton’s Bayfront Park.
Emergency crews were called to the area late Friday night after reports that someone had driven out onto the frozen bay and a truck had fallen through the ice.
The driver was assessed by paramedics before being taken to Hamilton Central Police Station for a breathalyzer test.
Hamilton’s police marine unit was involved in removing the truck from the bay, finally getting the vehicle out of the ice at around 5 pm on Saturday.
There were reportedly no other people in the truck at the time of the incident.
