New spot for handmade French pastries opens in Hamilton Farmers’ Market

Croissants, madeleines, and more are on the menu at a gem of a spot that recently opened in the Hamilton Farmers’ Market.

Chaton is a new stand on the market’s lower level, specializing in small-batch, artisan French pastries in sweet and savoury varieties made by owner Anna Warunkiewicz, who worked previous stints in some well-known restaurants and bakeries in Toronto.

Anna makes use of traditional techniques and ingredients in her range of mainstay and rotating treats including almond croissants, financiers, macarons, pain au chocolat, Pain Viennois, sable cookies, and beyond.

Open during market hours on Wednesday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, plus Saturday from 8 am to 5 pm, Chaton is already proving a popular spot for locals to get their hands on excellent French pastries made plenty of craft (and love!)
