One of Hamilton’s most delicious spots for barbecue has sadly closed its doors a little over one year after it first opened to the public.
Lucky’s BBQ readily earned a strong reputation among lovers of all things smoked and fried when it first opened up in Hess Village in February 2021, serving up strong takes on brisket, fried chicken, pulled pork, and much more.
Though there was little fanfare on social media, a message on the Lucky’s BBQ website indicates that the restaurant has made the difficult decision to close, citing challenging costs as a key reason.
“Opening a restaurant in a pandemic was maybe a bit of a harder hill to climb (than it normally is!),” wrote Lucky’s on their website.
“We have a lot of love for smoked foods and BBQ, and always will; but with food costs and operating cost skyrocketing we’ve decided to bid a sweet farewell… for a little while!”
Lucky for us, Lucky’s BBQ indicates that this is hardly a permanent goodbye and that the restaurant has plans to fire up those smokers once again in – hopefully – the near future!
