Popular James North fabric shop is closing its doors

Crafty folks of Hamilton will miss this popular James North fabric shop and creative workspace closing its doors this month.

Needlework has been a fixture at 174 James Street North since opening 12 years ago and quickly becoming one of the city’s best shops for textiles, sewing supplies, and creative workshops & classes.

However, after opening in 2012 and with more than a decade of serving the community, owners Liz and Kate have shared news that Needlework’s last day of operations will be Sunday, March 24th.

“As you can imagine, running a multi-faceted small business is all-consuming and we’re not immune to the burnout many small business owners face in today’s economic climate,” wrote the pair in a post on social media.

“Combined with the expiration of our lease, financial pressures, and a deep desire for a sustainable work/life balance, we have made the difficult decision to wrap up this iteration of Needlework.”

Thankfully, this doesn’t entirely mean the end for this beloved Hamilton business. Liz and Kate express that – following a ‘little breather’ – they plan to keep Needlework alive in the city in some form or another. We can’t wait to see what they do next!

See more on their social media, and visit Needlework at 174 James Street North before March 24th to say goodbye!
