Popular restaurant for chicken and more closes in Hamilton

A restaurant known for its chicken-forward menu of comfort dishes has announced it will sadly be closing its doors.

Union Chicken, located at 10 James Street North, first opened in Hamilton a few years ago as Ray’s Food & Liquor: a spacious spot for elevated Southern-style fare.

The restaurant later changed gears and became Union Chicken – a spinoff of an existing Toronto restaurant – at the end of 2022.

Sadly, the stint as Union Chicken has been short-lived, as the restaurant has posted to social media saying farewell to Hamilton.

“It is with a heavy heart, we must share the news that we have made the difficult decision to suspend operations at Union Chicken Hamilton until further notice,” reads their message.

“We want to express our deepest gratitude to all our wonderful guests who have shown us years of unwavering loyalty and support.”

Union Chicken was known for its varied menu of chicken dishes, from fried chicken sandwiches to rotisserie platters to salads to share plates and more alongside cocktails, wine, and beer.
